10 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP WORK.

Have you ever dated someone in high school, only for the both of
you to part ways after your high school finals? You both must have
wished you could still keep the relationship as hot as it was when you
were still together.
Maybe...just maybe yours didn't go this way. It could just be that
you met your date who came down from school for the summer holidays,
and you just may not see him till new year's eve, because he's gone
off to pursue some college degree.
Or maybe, you both have long been friends, developed feelings for
each other, and then this event comes crashing down between the both
of you, sending you miles apart, physically.
Now if you were in anyone of these shoes, what would you do? Would
you take your bestie's word which would likely be-" abandon the
relationship and move on, he's not coming back, you don't know what
she is doing over there"(Most are guilty of this here in Nigeria).
Would you allow your Mama get under your skin, with all that nagging
about your wasting time on a useless parole. Or would you bluntly
deafen your ears, throw your hands in and hold on to that
relationship?
Long distance relationships are difficult, yet possible to keep
alive. Possible because a real relationship founded on mutual
familiarity and trust can stand the test of time. But then, it takes
the determination of the partners involved, and their ability to make
the right choices and take the right decisions. The truth many don't
know is: Long distance relationship when handled the right way, has
higher survival chances than short distance relationships. Even
science has proved this. Remember-"distance makes the heart grow
fonder". A few "right" steps could go a long way keeping that
"sweetheart" living ten hours flight away from you in your life.

1)First, get to know each other: This is the first crucial step,
assess your knowledge about your partner, what do you know and how
much do you know. For example, he could be the "ever smiling type" but
are there things that could piss him off? Is she the type who hides
her pains with humour and smiles? What are his interests? What are his
likes? Do you in anyway share similar goals? What's his relationship
with her family and friends like. Is he a "mummy's boy"? These are
probing yet important questions that would make sure you're not left
in the dark.
Then, just try not to forget some little details about your
partner. Who wouldn' get impatient with a partner who can't even
remember his or her birthday?

2)Communication: This is key to maintaining the link while you both
are on the road. This has also been prescribed by a group of
researchers in Human psychology. Frequent Communication ensures that
the partners know and understand themselves more, how much they need
each other, set dates to see each other in person, and their daily
schedule. Think of how many times you would meet in restaurant to talk
about your day if she were near you, what positive effect it would
have. Its just the same if you're far apart.
Made easy with technology: If you had been living in the 19th or
20th century, then you would to write letters and wait a long time for
them to be posted. But right you could find out if your loved one had
a bad day just seconds after asking.
Now what I'm saying is this: The digital media provides you with
unlimited communication power through, audio and video calls, text
chats. The internet is crowded with social networks. Just agree with
your partner on the one to use. Remember, be flexible in your
comminication, and understand your partner's schedule. He or she may
just prefare voice calls, or video calls other than working the
fingers off on a chat. Lol

3)Share everything over the line: create an atmosphere with your
partner that help you talk about anything. Its not a taboo if you tell
him or her about some guy or lady colleague or winked at you during
office hours. Or a guy who asked you out after lectures at school.
Argue that it may spark jealousy, but go on to make him or her
understand, that despite the distance, you're still into him or her,
and you're not ready to let down your guard.
Just know that every conversation shouldn't be "official" stuff
(you understand?). Flex out, be free, discuss your shopping
experience, an interesting story a friend told you about another
"friend". Ask him his opinion on your personal secrets. This fosters
the feeling that the both of you are sharing a home. Don't forget to
send pictures of that flower vase you just bought, or the dinner you
just prepared.

4)Sort out your relationship: Now, this is the difficult part, and it
comes after you've discovered the both of you have a few common
interest. Ask the question, what kind of relationship are we into? Are
dating, just seeing each other, am I his girlfriend/boyfriend and
those he see me as one? Are we on the path of engagement and marriage?
Get the terms of the relationship. Did I hear you ask that? Why
not! every relationship has terms. Are you allowed to see other
people, are we going to be having sex? These may look haywire, but
then it should save you from a broken heart. In all don't forget to
find out what is expected from you as a partner, and what your partner
sees as the future of the relationship. Think positive about your
partner always and expect good from the relationship.

5) Surprises: Just as it applies to those in short distance
relationships, it just applies to you. Unpredictability will go a long
way in spicing up your link. Go out of your way to make your partner
know you adore him or her. It could be a flower sent during office
hours, a post card, a teddy or romantically worded love letter. All
these will always bring smiles to the face, and will be marked as
memorable moments. But try not to over do it. Don't go fussing around
bombarding you partner with gift, so the gesture doesn't become just
common.

6) Do things together, even from a distance: an essential part of
sharing is sharing your activities. You could plan to watch a
particular tv show or read the same book at a particular time, while
having a chat about what you're doing.

7)Support each other: Get the best out of your relation by creating a
form of interdependence on each other. Help your partner handle
crucial issues, regardless of the distance. Deserting your partner, or
leaving him or her to handle it alone will only prove, they could
exist completely without you. An advice or any other aid, even from
the distance will show your partner that you truly care.

8)Work to build trust: All of these will be vain if not backed up by
solid trust. Studies have proved that a relationship begins to crumble
when little lies are told. Be truthful and open to your partner,
especially in matters that concern the health of your relationship.
And try to avoid things that would make you lie to your partner. For
example, if you know he or she would would be talking to you at a
particular time, just make sure you're not found in questionable
places like clubs or parties at that time. But if you do find yourself
there, just tell him or, and remind the person how great it would have
been if you were together there.

9) Create other connections: Its not just enough to connect with each
other, make efforts to connect with other people he or she may be
involved with. Get to know the person's family, friends, you could
also help your partner create new relationships by helping him or her
link up with people you think he or she may share interest in some
areas. So many couples have gone on to find long lasting family
friends, and crucial business connections with this step.
10) Get to visit each other regularly: That you stay apart doesn't
mean you would never see each other at all. Its necessary you make
arrangements to see each other often. Decide who is going to visit,
and for the short time you're together, don't ever allow dull moments.
Enjoy the company of each other. Get involved in activities that will
create those beautiful memories you could reminisce on when you're
apart.
Remember, your partner is still human, and could still make
mistakes, understand and forgive. Give the relationship more of your
time and efforts, and you may never regret you did!
Do you have questions or comments? Just anything you say could
be of tremendous contribution to someone out there. Make sure you
share this post too! Have a nice day!

MOST POPULAR CAR BRANDS IN NIGERIA.

MOST POPULAR CAR BRANDS IN NIGERIA
Nigerians are solid car lovers, infact most people tend to develop
and nurse "car dreams" before nursing their carrier dreams, lol.
Standing on the streets of popular Nigerian cities, one could count as
many as five flashy cars out of ten passing cars. A survey and report
we carried out proved a few striking points, in most Nigerian cities
the number of certain brands varies depending on the time of the year.
Towards the end of the year, in the month of december, the number of
top brands like Lexus RX series, Range rover,Toyota- Avalon and Camry
increases. But at other times of the year the number reduces a bit.
We have drawn up a list, based on the average report of our survey
from the two periods- the xmas festive season and earlier in the year,
the most popular private cars driven by Nigerians. Don't forget to
like and share this post!
1) Toyota- Undoubtably the most popular car brand in Nigeria. This
Japanese has so many models built to satisfy the mobility needs of any
Nigerian. Popular under this brand are: camry, Venza, Avalon, corolla,
Rav4, Solara, Highlander(an off road jeep), Hilux and prado jeep.
These are the most popular cars in Nigeria from the Toyota brand.
A)Camry: This car is the most popular sedan (family car) in Nigeria,
especially the 1998,1999 and the toyota "regular" models. This is
proably because it's one car that meets the demands of most Nigerians
for a durable car with a spacious interior. It also has a high resale
value here, just incase you would like to cash in, there definitely
will be no shortfall in demand. It is also about the cheapest private
car model to maintain.

B)Toyota Avalon: Another popular wheel, very similar to camry, its
sleek look and stylish yet masculine look makes it a top choice among
the big boys of the city.
C)Toyota Venza: In many states of Nigeria, this SUV from toyota is
crazily popular. You would see different colors of the model
cruising up and down at virtually any time of the year.
The big plus in this car is its low maintenance cost. And it has an
incredible resale value, highly fuel efficient and rates low in
emissions.
2)Lexus: Another popular brand on its own but comes from toyota. Has
two auto lines, the sedans which are alike with pure toyota sedans and
the jeep (Rx series). From my observation the jeep is more popular.
Especially the Rx 330 model.
3)Honda: Rates fourth on the list of most wanted cars in Nigeria. Its
popular with the Honda Civic, Accord, Pilot. You must have heard of a
car named "end of discussion" lol. Its a name Nigerians gave to one of
the "Accord" models.
4)Ford: The ford focus is the popular one on this brand. Its an SUV.
Driven mostly by "visitors" in town.
5)Kia: A south Korean brand that represents itself on Nigerian roads
with models like: Kia Rio, Picanto, Optima. Its also a very popular
prize given in pageants and modelling fairs.
6)Nissan: The most popular car on this brand is probably the Nissan
Pathfinder. A strong off road jeep.
7)Mercedes: About the most expensive brand of sedans. All the same
still popular. This car is not so common on Nigerian roads, but it
gives any driver the needed respect.
8)Hyundai: The second most popular brand favoured and used as official
cars all around. Has similar looks with KIA.
9)Range Rover: The car is rarely seen on Nigerian roads between
February and November. But becomes the most popular during the festive
season, with the influx of visitors to the cities. The most popular in
the brand is the Range Rover Sport and Evogue.
10)BMW: Made the list due to its tested and trusted abilities and
durability. Its resale value is also on the high side, and is reputed
to be the safest bet on Nigerian roads. But just one problem-
maintenance is quite costly and spare parts are hard to find.

TOP ACHIEVEMENTS OF BUHARI IN THE PAST ONE YEAR.

It's been twelve months in office, the presidency has released a
list of achievements made by the president, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and
his administration in the past one year.
Although many Nigerians may not agree to the fact that in terms of
power, economy and especially security the measures taking by the
president have in many proportions yielded wonderful results.
Reacting to reports from the Center of Democracy and Development
that the president had not yet fulfilled 1 percent of his agenda, the
assistant to the president on media and publicity made a statement
last week to prove the group wrong.
A break down of the five main areas Buhari has achieved so much is
as follows.
ECONOMY: This, unarguably is an important area Nigerians look into
in rating their leaders and according to the presidency, president
Buhari has not been a complete failure in this area. The assistant to
the president on media emphasised that it was no fault of the
president that he inherited a failing economy, or that he took up the
reins of power at a time oil prices were falling. Siting that a very
similar thing happened during president Barrack Obama's first tenure
yet he was not even judged for the problem during his first year. He
went further to highlight the corrections the president had made in
the economy, stressing on the level of importance the president had
placed on economy diversification and the transparency of the
government in handling economic matters. He reminded Nigerians that
for the first time the federal government had an account and every
Nigerian could know the details of the transactions the government was
involved in through the Treasury Single Account(TSA).
According to him, the president also ordered the closure of
multiple accounts held by the state and local government, ministries
and all other agencies of the government. And so right now even NNPC
now publishes monthly reports.
Last year, to reduce the strain on Nigerians the presidency ordered
the release of over N689 billion to bail out 27 states and also
deferred the payments of the debts, giving states time to recover from
the knock down of prices.
Other achievements include, introduction an enforcement of Bank
Verification Number, making it difficult for looters and ghost workers
to operate and yes! Flushing out tons of ghost workers draining the
government. Restructuring. National Petroleum corporation (NNPC) into
a more transparent and effective body, split into autonomous units
with lower report deficits.
SECURITY: Mallam Shehu in his statement made a list of all the
government did to preserve the lives of Nigerians and their property.
Starting with the first- the relocation of the Nigerian Military
Command to Maiduguri last may, this largely contributed positively in
the fight against North Eastern insurgence. He reminded Nigerians that
by February 2016 the number of people rescued from areas held down by
Boko Haram was almost 11,000. Not to forget the rescue of a chibok
girl this month. He informed Nigerians that a recruitment exercise
that would increase the Nigerian police by 10,000 personnel. Also the
government through high level diplomacy has brought back its former
allies, UK and USA, even Israeli forces have indicated interest in
helping Nigeria exterminate insurgency.
This interest has helped the Nigerian military in areas of advanced
training and technical intelligence. He also informed the Nigeria is
still making progress an fighting oil bunkering and pipeline
vandalisation. This has been largely with the aid of the Navy and its
sea vessels.
Also our security technology has increased as we now have a forensic
lab and GSM tracking facility.
REDUCING CORRUPTION: Right from time this has been a dram pin on
Buhari's agenda, and so far he hasn't deviated from it. This was also
noted by his media adviser. Ever since his takeover, billions of
looted funds have been recovered by force and by negotiations. The War
Against Corruption advisory committee has been very active, with many
high profile cases involving huge sums being tried in court under the
strict supervision of the constitution.
Early this year on one of his trips to the middle East the president
had special agreements the would ensure that the UAE countries
returned stolen assets and gave up the pilferers for trial.
Also in march this year, an agreement was signed between Nigeria
and Switzerland, to return illicitly acquired assets and monetary sums
abandoned or forfeited by corrupt Nigerians in the past. This includes
the return of the sum of 321 million dollars stolen by former head of
state Gen. Abacha and his family.
POWER: Under the administration of Buhari, a contract worth N11.3bn
with the French government and the UN is underway to upgrade power
facilities in the country. Also under the administration, Chinese
solar panel manufacturing companies have created strong business ties
with Nigeria.
ENVIRONMENT and SANITATION: The president approved the implementation
of the UNEP act, which was effective in cleaning up oil spills in the
west.
Implementation of the green wall project to reduce desert
encroachment in Northern Nigeria.

The assistant to the presidency on media publicity advised any
group who went about telling Nigerians that the federal government has
not achieved anything to desist from such.

5 WOMEN INVOLVED IN THE WORST CORRUPTION SCANDALS

5 women involved in the craziest corruption scandals.
   1. Allison-Madueke: well we have to start with someone, and OMG is she a good starter! Dieziani Allison-Madueke has been in the spotlight for over a year now, in fact her name and personality could define corruption completely.
One of the most troublesome tails in former president Goodluck Jonathan's administration, these woman has been in scandals involving seven to eight figures! She was accused of spending over N10bn of state cash in procuring and maintaining her private jets and flight crew. The former CBN governor Lamido Sanusi did not just take it easy with her when he accused the wife of a former Imo governor- Admiral Allison madueke of mismanaging, squandering and embezzeling a bloody sum in excess of $20bn. O:- Before her arrest in London on october 2, 2015 American and British officials leaked out that the former minister for petroleum had diverted state funds amounting to about N1 trn from the Nigerian treasury. Anyway, its Nigeria and as expected, she has not been officially tried for the allegations and she has vehemently denied all.
   2. Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi Remember her? Ok I'll gist you, this woman of questionable virtues was the minister of aviation. Sworn into the office in June 2011, she was relived of her duties in February 2015. Not before she had been found to be neck-deep in corruption. She got into big trouble when she was accused of purchasing a couple of bullet proof BMW jeeps, and not just that inflating the price to some cosmic sums. It was also found out that she had forged an MBA certificate. So much for a supposed mother! But then, she just was allowed to go free. This country eh!
 3. Patricia Etteh: you just can't write this without paying homage to the memory of her scandalous exploits. A hairdresser and beauty expert, a law degree holder, Mrs Ette was a constituency representative of Osun state Nigeria. But in 2007 while still in office, alarms began to ring. She was accused of blowing over 600million naira renovating her personal house and that of her deputy. She was also accused of purchasing cars for the Representative members without permission. She still got backed up by the president then- Gen.Olusegun Obasanjo, though she was forced to resign when the criticisms turned up higher.
3) Cecilia Ibru: A former managing director of Oceanic bank plc, she is rated by some to be the most corrupt influential Lady in Nigeria. Appointed CEO and MD of the bank in 1997, Cecilia Ibru was among the bank CEO's dismissed in 2009. The charge count for her case would not read in just a day! But she got sentenced in October 2008 on a 25 charge count. Ranging from money laundering, fund diversion, insider trading. She got most of her properties confiscated by the federal government.
4)Okonjo Iweala: Though not yet proven completely, but she was accused of pilfering almost a billion dollars, while serving as Finance minister during Goodluck Jonathan's tenure. Some time this year She was questioned by president Buhari , who asked her for the whereabouts of funds loaned to Nigeria by China back in 2012. 5) Marilyn Ogar: former State Security Service spokeswoman. This lady was brought to books on account of her too many sins of accepting bribes. The story had it that she accepted bribe worth over 15 million naira in tankers of Dual purpose kerosine while playing her "roles" for her party during the elections in Osun that year. HARDSHIP AS IMO WORKERS ARE OWED BACKLOG OF SALARIES .

Among the list of state governments owing their workers salaries, Imo state happens to be the worst hit. As so many government parastatals are being owed between four-eight months of salaries. Even those who have been paid regularly up until april, can only be grateful for a part payment. This has had adverse effects on the lives and activities of Imo residents, and various voices cry up to the government to pay its dues. Also, the state university (IMSU) has been on strike for almost three months, because the staff of the university have decided to shut all activities until something is done. Coupled with the high prices of products in the markets and the acute scarcity of money all over the federation, the lives of Imolites have really been made unbearable. From many quarters, workers have refused to join their counterparts all lover the world to celebrate may day. Saying that they had nothing to celebrate. Civil servants in the state have actually resorted to other means of survival, ranging from small scale poultry farming, petty trading and in a few cases crime. Mrs. Ngozi a teacher in one of the state schools has this to say- "I have six children, who are all in primary school except the first two. My husband is carpenter, and my salary is supposed to support him a little. But we have a government that has failed us, so I have resorted to small trading in my shop, and also vegetable farming. I can't die of hunger" Another aggrieved citizen was also interviewed and he didn't miss words. "This government has heartlessly disappointed us. There are other states owing salaries but not as much as Imo" he also lamented that the state governor- Gov.Okorocha had no interest in solving the problem, adding that he was currently selling shoes to earn a living. We also gathered that this problem of unpaid salaries isn't new to Imo citizens, as they have experienced such in past years, but according to Chief Chukwueme, the hardship is worse as a result of the problems experienced every where in the federation. The Governor though has not been totally quite on this, as He has come out on a few occasions, pleading for patience. He explained that the state was in serious debt, and currently not getting enough from the federal allocation.
