PROF AKUNYILI'S DAUGHTER WINS ART AWARD.

Njideka Crosby Akunyili daughter of the late NAFDAC national
director has won the star prize for the 2016 edition of Canson prize.
The Canson prize is an annual award given for the best achieving
artist on paper.
And Njideka has just won the prize for 2016. The
prize is sponsored by Canson, one of the world's chief makers of
fine-art papers and is given to the best achieving artist under 50
years.
The company was founded in 2010 and Njideka is the sixth edition
winner of the award. Many famous contemporary artists have done their
work on Canson paper, works by Matisse and Degas have been done on
Canson paper.
For the award, Crosby who uses paper as her main medium will get
a solo show and about $11,000 worth of Canson paper. In addition the
company will purchase one of her works for its collection.
Crosby was born in 1983 in Enugu, but she currently lives and
works in the USA. She was chosen for the award because of her
expertise in combining different themes, cultural backgrounds and
personal narrative. And also her consistency on paper. She works on
paper best and without fail. She was picked for the award with four
other women.
