A young Pakistani woman named Zeenat Rafique was burnt to death
recently by her family for committing a "grievous" crime of eloping
with a lover her family did not approve.
The young lady who eloped and got married to a long term lover,
had the impression in her conscience to go back to her family and
reconcile, but alas! There was no chance for that to happen. Her own
mother actually tied her to a bed and set her ablaze, then turned
herself to the police. Imagine! What kind of hatred and spiritual
possession will cause a mother to do that to her daughter? No matter
the strictness of tradition. And this is not uncommon in pakistan as
hundreds of young people have been killed for supposedly "bringing
shame" to their relatives.
Her mother is currently waiting to be tried for murder. Her only
brother is on the run. Some people get mind o!
