TENSION IN AKURE AS OGBONI LEADER IS BURIED.

Top traditionalists around Nigeria have converged in Akure, the
capital of Ondo to attend the burial of deceased national leader of
the Ogboni confraternity-Chief Araba Ajemoju. And in the midst of all
the preparations, anxiety and fear lurks everywhere, as there are
widespread rumours that people will be killed to honour the dead.
The streets have been deserted, and even strangers are not being
allowed in the parks, because there is the belief that strangers and
non-indegenes will be the main targets. Yesterday, rumours of a curfew
holding in the evening. Between 5pm and 6am emerged, and without
waiting for comfirmation, people fled into their homes out of fear.
Shops have closed down before 6pm since Chief Araba's death.
However, the police has assured that there will be no loss of lives
or property, but that the traditions of the people will still be
respected.

CRIME REDUCTION: HOLLAND TO CLOSE PRISONS.

The Netherlands(Holland) are considering closing down a dozen
prison yards, due to the sharp decline in crime. With only 12,000
detainees currently occupying surplus 14,000 capacity prisons, the
government wants to begin infrastuctural conversion.
But countries like Belgium and Norway have transferred some of
their detainees to prisons in the Netherlands, due to over crowded
prisons.
The crime decline in holland has been steady for over a decade,
probably the result of an extensive rehabillitation programme for
criminals, and loose drug laws in the country. Between 2012 and 2013
over 25 jail cells were closed.

SEX SCANDAL: US MUST PROVE REPS GUILTY- HON.DOGARA

Speaker of the National house of representatives Yakubu Dogara
has spoken the mind of other members of the house. He says, that US
must provide tangible proof that the three reps are guilty of the
charges of sexual misconduct.
On June 9, the US ambassador to Nigeria, petitioned the house that
three members had been found guilty of different charges of
misconduct. Ranging from harrassing and asking hotel attendants for
sex, to requesting attendants to solicit for sex from prostitutes.
But Dogara is of the opinion that no one should be called guilty
except there are ample proofs against such a person. Standing on
this, he called on the US to bring proof, otherwise, there was no need
being judgemental.
Meanwhile the Speakers have dismissed the allegations as false,
but have stated their readiness to appear in any court in the US to
prove their innocence. Even at their own cost.
